Welcome To The
 Jeanne Taylor Parkinson's Support Group

As Parkinson's progresses, patients require more and more intensive care from their care givers. During this time care givers must pay special attention to their own well being and the maintenance of their own social and support systems. A physically and mentally heathy care giver is the most fundamental element to the patient's well being. It all to common that a care giver becomes 100 % occupied by the care giving tasks and soon finds themselves isolated and over whelmed and with no way to break the pattern.

To help care givers avoid sliding into or help them recover from this situation, the Jeanne Taylor Parkinson's Support Group facilitates a modest "Respite Care" program in which a trained care giver comes to the patient's home and provides the necessary services for short periods of time so that the primary care giver can step out of that role for a while and "recharge their batteries." The primary care giver is encouraged to use this respite time to enhance their personal well being (as opposed to plunging even deeper in care giver tasks)e.g., go out to lunch with a friend or attend a support group meeting instead of cleaning the house or doing the laundry!
